A Routefriend Travelboard can show next bus or train departures for anywhere we have coverage. The technology is provided free with ad support. If you want to see a departure board in your station or business, please contact us. Routefriend departure boards are currently operating in the South Norwalk Train Station in Norwalk, CT.

David Marcus, Founder and Developer
David has leveraged his mathematics background to build the core technology behind Routefriend. He holds degrees in Applied and Computational Mathematics from Caltech and in Social Anthropology from the University of Kent in Canterbury, UK, where his research applied graph theory to kinship structures. He has previously performed applied physics research at the MITRE Corporation, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) and the Technion Israel Institute of Technology. Before founding Routefriend, David was responsible for advanced analytics on a major market research initiative led by Nielsen. In his younger years, David traveled around the Middle East and Eastern Europe, working for humanitarian organizations and navigating the world’s transportation.

Niaz Karim, Consultant on Operations
Niaz consults on business operations for Routefriend. He began his career sourcing and diligencing investments for the venture capital funds Commons Capital and the Massachusetts Green Energy Fund. Niaz subsequently worked at the Harvard Office of Technology Development on new invention licensing, new venture spin-outs and corporate partnerships. Niaz is a graduate of Dartmouth College with a degree in Economics. He is a frequent flyer on Chinatown buses and an aficionado of inexpensive and efficient public transportation.

Alex Hofer, Technology Intern
Alex is a high school student who has contributed to the Routefriend technology platform on a part-time basis during his studies. He was an early innovator in virtual worlds, developing a profitable Second Life business while in middle school. Since then he’s developed a number of Java-based computer games. He is applying his skills with Python and Javascript at Routefriend.
